Aerogel is a flexible thermal insulation felt—soft and easy to handle—in which silica aerogel is reinforced within a fiberglass matrix. Primarily utilized in high-temperature environments, it is currently recognized as the solid material with the lowest thermal conductivity known to man. Its exceptionally low bulk density and the tortuous pathways created by its nanoscale network structure effectively suppress both gaseous and solid-state heat conduction, thereby blocking the pathways of heat transfer and enabling the aerogel to achieve thermal insulation performance unmatched by any other material.

Widely used in high-temperature applications such as boiler steam pipelines, steam buffer tanks, high-temperature chemical equipment, and industrial furnace doors.
Aerogel insulation blankets are primarily used for the thermal insulation of high-temperature surface steam injection pipelines in heavy oil extraction, where the medium temperature ranges from 350°C to 400°C. These lightweight, thin aerogel products significantly reduce the volume of insulation material required and effectively minimize temperature and pressure drops during long-distance steam transport. They serve as a replacement for traditional insulation materials such as silicate blankets, fiberglass, rock wool, and mineral wool.
Aerogel insulation blankets are primarily used for the thermal insulation of refining and chemical processing units as well as process pipelines, typically operating within a temperature range of 200°C to 650°C. Their exceptionally low thermal conductivity allows for a reduction in insulation layer volume, thereby optimizing pipeline layout density within the plant. Furthermore, their excellent hydrophobic properties and neutral pH help prevent electrochemical corrosion caused by moisture absorption or water ingress, thereby extending pipeline service life and reducing long-term maintenance costs.
