High Quality High Temperature 85-98% MgO Content Refractory Magnesite Fire Bricks For Industrial Furnace
Refractory Magnesite Fire Bricks are high-temperature, alkaline refractory materials primarily composed of magnesia (MgO) derived from natural magnesite. They are essential in industries requiring extreme thermal and chemical resistance. Their defining characteristic is an exceptionally high melting point (above 2800°C), making them ideal for lining furnaces operating at very high temperatures.
A key performance attribute is their superior resistance to basic (alkaline) slags and corrosive chemical environments, especially those rich in lime and iron oxides. This makes them indispensable in metallurgy for steelmaking furnaces like electric arc furnaces and basic oxygen furnaces, as well as in cement rotary kilns and copper refining.
However, they have notable weaknesses: relatively poor thermal shock resistance (prone to cracking under rapid temperature changes) and lower resistance to acidic slags. To enhance properties, they are often combined with other materials, such as chromium oxide (forming magnesia-chrome bricks) or carbon. Their high refractoriness and chemical stability justify their use despite higher costs and handling considerations.
